The role of the media is to enlighten, educate as well as entertain the masses, which entails relaying information without bias on any newsworthy events. Due to that fact and based on the reading, Post’s coverage on Trump is fair because it has been reporting on all the things that Trump has done as well as being involved in. According to an article the Post, Trump has committed quite some unprecedented things that are not only considered controversial but are also norm-breaking. Trump has also been caught telling quite many unprecedented falsehoods that are also rather often blatant (Blake, 2017). Therefore, by resorting the very things that Trump has been doing or demonstrating, the Post is only doing what it is supposed to do, which is enlighten the masses on Trump’s actions.
The reason why it would seem that the coverage of Trump is more “negative” rather than “positive” is because Mr Trump has mostly been involved in controversial and unprecedented things, some of which are false and norm-breaking. In his tweet, which started by reading “fake news”, Trump accused the Post of inventing phoney sources, which was responsible for a report on nine current and former officials of the united states. Trump refuted the claim arguing that “There’s no nine people... I don’t believe there were one or two people.” However, the Post proved that it did indeed conduct interviews with various sources including the nine, which Trump was strongly refuting, thus proof. The issue resulting in Trump’s “fake News” allegation was the ongoing probe of a possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, which Trump urged the Senate Intelligence Committee to ignore and investigate on the “fake News” (Borchers, 2017). Anyone who has been keeping up with the current news knows there is truth in what the Post has been reporting on, thus no form of unfairness as far as journalism and the media is concerned.
