Essentially the law protects the citizens, while some documentaries portray the presence of crime in our society together with its norms. They also bring out the moral justifications of actions in a specific population. Thus, it is essential to focus on the documentary The Wolf of Wall Street , to illustrate matters pertaining to criminal justice and statistics.

Markedly, the documentary bases on the portrayal of white-collar crime. The law is tasked with protecting citizens and society from criminals such as Jorden Belfort. Belfort amasses power and later uses it to commit extensive fraud to the economy and defrauding people ("The Wolf of Wall Street | Netflix", 2019) . In the documentary, the white-collar crime is brought to light when Jorden Belfort defrauds investors in various stocks in the stock exchange market. Thus, according to the documentary, the system is dependent on administrative law, incarceration, and sentencing statutes.

Punitive measures as a method of deterrence and recidivism have been depicted in the documentary. Remarkably, criminal justice aims at curbing harmful behavior. The system does prevent characters such as those of Jorden Belfort in contravening the law owing to the social status and influence they hold in society ("The Wolf of Wall Street | Netflix", 2019) . Belfort in his economic crimes spree seems to have invested much in keeping the police at bay. This illustrates that the system forces the offender to strictly comply with law even in doing business. Markedly, the key focus is on using the offender as a deterrent factor and setting of the precedent.

Conviction and proof threshold is also evident in the documentary. After Jorden Belfort defrauds various stock security business people or investors, he only receives incarceration orders after conviction. The conviction process only happens where it is the prosecutor’s burden to prove to the judges, beyond reasonable doubt, that the person is guilty of the offense. For this process to be successful, the multi-agency cooperation is needed, coupled with effective compilation of non-corruptible evidence that is capable of finding culpability of the offender ("The Wolf of Wall Street | Netflix", 2019) . Markedly, the only most effective way of blocking white collar crime such as those committed by Jorden Belfort, is to create swift, tough corrective measures in prisons.

Conclusively, it is thus evident that criminal justice is vital in curbing white-collar crime, as depicted in the documentary Wolf of Wall Street . The documentary also highlights the extent the white-collar crime has on society and the economy. From the documentary, we are also made alive to the idea of tabulating the effect of fraud in comparison to the affected people, and focus on loopholes that need to be addressed in the criminal justice system to curb white-collar crime.
