In clinical practices, the theory of integral nursing has been advocated for some years. However, a transformation of this theory into practice has proved to be difficult for clinicians despite it being helpful. The application of this theory in clinical settings is both beneficial and consequential. This essay aims at determining some of these benefits and consequences. Also, the essay aims at analyzing the article by Tracy and DiNapoli (2012), identifying its strengths and weaknesses as well as specifying two MSN Essentials that relates to the application of the Theory of Integral Nursing in clinical practice.

One of the benefits of the Theory of Integral Nursing (TIN) is that it provides clinicians with the opportunities in a world that holds the caring behavior recommended in nursing care in high regard. Second, this theory provides clinicians with the opportunity to design care and relationships whose main objective is healing. Moreover, the theory is applicable in many care situations, thus reliable to many patients. One of the consequences of applying this theory is that some clinicians lack adequate knowledge in regard to this theory and hence can obscure their ability to depend on their theoretical skills as a basis for patients’ care. Second, poor understanding of this theory inhibits clinicians' ability to apply their theoretical constructs in managed care.
A strength of this journal article lies in the fact that it is well organized and the TIN has been analyzed in detail. Therefore, this journal article is worth a read to gain insights. A weakness of the article lies in the fact that it fails to give a real situation where TIN has either been applied successful or has failed. Concisely, the two MSN essentials relating to the application of TIN in clinical practice include determining the background for practice from the sciences and humanities perspective, and translating and integrating scholarship into practice (AACN, 2011).
