As indicated by Simon et al. (2015), the scientific method is one of the methods that establishes and test solutions to problems or test how and why things happen. It is an approach that makes people comprehend the nature of the world by use of explanations, inquiry, and answer to particular questions. This process is relevant anywhere in the world. On the other hand, the nonscientific method involves acquiring knowledge and truths about the world by using methods that do not correspond to the scientific technique. Some of the problems that are solved scientifically include IQ tests, DNA tests, and numerous engineering problems. Even though various scientific methods provide solutions to most problems, logical problems, ethical problems, and mathematical problems are some of the problems that are not solved scientifically.

One example that can be solved by the scientific method is removing grease on a white shirt. After observing the stain on the shirt, a person is required to determine the cause of the stain and the fabric of the shirt. After identifying the cause of the stain, a person ought to search for more information about grease stain removal online and pick one that seems workable for him or her. Since he or she has no experience with stain removing method, it is pointless to start guessing but possibly start cleaning the shirt with the hope that the result will be positive. He or she ought to follow instructions for mixing the cleaning supplies; apply the smelly glob and then wash the cleaning glob off the shirt. If the stain is removed then it can be concluded that the stain removing method worked in cleaning grease stain on the shirt.
