Natural law, as put across by Aquinas encompasses both a moral as well as legal aspects. With regards to the above components, the theory proposes that undertakings that are in accordance with the natural law are right and the others are not. Natural laws are those are in existence as a result of the human nature. They are believed to have been constituted by God himself. According to Thomas Aquinas, natural law is an independence proposition and hence, has three other parts that support its definition and hence existence. They include eternal, divine as well as human law.

Eternal law was the thought of God from the beginning of it all as he created the universe. It hence, takes effect on the universe as it was initially preconceived by him alone. Many believe that such law is responsible for the natural order that things exists in. the second law is the divine one. This particular law encompass the revelations done by God through the scriptures written thousands of years ago. This law was necessitated by the need to have some guidelines on how human beings behave, their judgement, a point of references as well as basis of punishment for one wrongs. The third law is the human law. It one that is made by human beings based on their believe of what is wrong and that which is right. It can encompass both the just as well as unjust law whereby the just law emulates the law of God and on the other hand the unjust law does not. In totality, the three laws which complement the natural law act in conjunction to provide moral guidelines that individual abide by and hence, coexist peacefully with each other in the society.
