Leadership is an important skill in the contemporary world due to the many transitions that the world is going through that require active management and control. Comprehension of the leadership styles and theories contributes to the perfect application of the contents in social settings such as the government and other professional settings. The process of understanding leadership requires resources such as books, videos on leadership, and real-life experience. James McGregor Burns is one of the pioneers of the transformational theory of leadership. According to him, leadership requires the full involvement of the people affected by the decision in order to realize cohesion and future sustainability.

McGregor Burns defines leadership as a situation where great leaders create more influential people by involving them in every aspect of leadership. Everybody is integral by taking part in the change process in a transformational leadership perspective (Northhouse, 2018). Listening to and watching a primary, conceptual developer of transformational leadership theory contributes to different ways of perceiving leadership. The examples they used to describe leadership and their improved roles in implementing leadership styles, such as military situations, are vital. They are determinants to perfect leadership roles by people in the professional setting and the entire society. McGregor applies a military situation in the explanation of this theory. He asserts that the military recognizes the order of hierarchy (University of Richmond, 2010). The process fails to present the transformational leadership since there is no involvement of everybody in the decision-making process. The situation contributes to a comprehension that transformational leadership requires everybody’s ideologies regardless of the hierarchy.

Change is a vital aspect of describing leadership. A lasting change requires a sustained vision for the future outcomes of a present strategy. The intended change entails the goals that an organization or a leader hopes to achieve regardless of the challenges (University of Richmond, 2010). Attaining a lasting change in an organization by a leader requires mobilizing and developing other members of an organization. The situation will contribute to productivity and the urge to achieve the goals set for future sustainability. Members of the organization where lasting change is a vital part of a transformation are productivity and receptive to leaders’ ideas. As James McGregor Burns asserts, a transformational leader produces an intended change (University of Richmond, 2010). They depend on the goals and include everybody in a firm in the decision-making process to effect the change. An understanding of the two approaches to change, as discussed by James McGregor Burns, contributes to perfect strategies that a learner or a leader can apply to effect change in a school or an organization. Lasting and intended changes are, therefore, ideal elements of transformational leadership theory.

The application of the transformational leadership theory by leaders is vital to the development of a society. As a leader, I will apply individualized consideration as one of the aspects of transformational leadership to realize practical actions by the members of a firm or a social organization. I will pay keen attention to the individual needs of the followers and employees by coaching and advising them on the intended practices that contribute to perfection in everyday life, such as ideal communication and respect. Treating employees in a unique and caring way is vital (Andersen, 2018). As a leader, I will use welfare, improved pay packages, delegation, and capacity building sessions to motivate and encourage equality and teamwork among followers and employees. Learning through members and other partners in the firm, government, and other social members are the ideal situation I will apply as a leadership strategy. An understanding of an individual’s need is, therefore, beneficial and defines an effective leader.

Transformational leadership is, therefore, a widely used style in successful firms since it creates cohesion and an urge to succeed. As Burns says, a leader applying a transformational method must be ready for joint decision making. I have learned that leaders must be vigilant and wise in the process of leadership. Northhouse also emphasizes on these roles by focusing on individualized consideration as a perfect strategy for a good leader. The application of the contents of the transformational leadership style from the resources will result in effective leadership.
