The study will be ideal given the fact that children tend to suffer the debilitating consequences of abuse or episodes of mistreatment that occur during early stages of childhood. The consequences of such acts result in children that are unable to perform optimally in school, experience episodes of depression, and can develop other mental ailments. Therefore, by understanding the degree of the trauma experienced by children that have suffered through physical abuse and how such aspects affect the psychological wellness of a child and ultimately crippling a young learners ability to thrive in the academic setting. 

The proposed study will explore both the physical and psychological implications of physical abuse that children may experience. The study will further explore what a child that has experienced physical abuse need in a bid to recover and become cognitively sound and capable of pursuing academic goals. As a nurse working with elementary children, the topic is relevant since it denotes that the wellness of children as well as their ability to study is restored despite having suffered debilitating incidents as a child.

The study will also strive to explore the experiences of children, evaluate whether they received necessary help, and to what degree the responding teams addressed the psychological needs of the affected children. The study will contribute to the existing body of research by promoting the formulation of best practices that can be enforced by child abuse responders tailored to improve the wellness of the victims. Ultimately, the study will also contribute to the body of research at the disposal of nurses, since it allows nurses to understand the far-reaching ramifications of exposure to physical inactivity. A qualitative research design can be used in the study.
