Mission Statement 

At United Health Group, our mission is to aid people in making better lifestyle and health decisions that will allow them to live healthier lives. Additionally, we aim at making the health system fit and suitable for all people through working with various health care professionals and other key stakeholders to increase access to quality healthcare so that the people can get access to the healthcare at reasonable prices.

Management and Leadership analysis 

The healthcare industry is undergoing significant reforms, and this ranges not only from the various implementation of policies such as the Affordable Care Act but also as a result of consumer preferences and technology. In order to ensure that United Group Health attains its set mission, there is a need to come up with strategic plans that will lay down a foundation for the organization’s involvements. When formulating strategic plans, a company uses future assumptions and then come up with strategies that will help them bridge the gap between their present and future success (Abraham, 2012).

The need to provide an ever-increasing quality of patient care is something that will increase each and every day. The successful organizations are those that will have the ability to generate healthy patient outcomes. In this case, the organization will ensure that uses cost-effective means in delivering care to allow people to access the services. Additionally, there is also an expected change in client demographics and volume. The USA population will continue to increase an indication more people will need care in the coming future. At United Group Health, the strategic plans for supporting this increase in client numbers will be based on a five-year plan to ensure that the population does not overwhelm the services being offered.

Furthermore, there is a need to factor in labor supply changes. New labor policies are formulated and thus there is a need to make sure that the organization is not affected by such policies. More importantly, the firm should have room for adapting to new and emerging technologies if it is to achieve its mission. Government regulations can also drive up operational costs and this can negatively impact the financial viability of the organization. The organization's management has to formulate innovative means that will drive operational costs down.

Company Description 

United Health group is a unique and specialized wellbeing health company with its headquarters based in the USA. The firm is also a leader in assisting people to live healthier lives and making sure that the healthcare system is suitable and fit for all. The organization is ready to introduce innovative services, products, and approaches that will not just enhance a single individual’s health but the entire community’s overall well-being. The ever-evolving consumer needs are met through using advanced technological devices and having qualified personnel in place. The foundational competencies of United Health group include clinical insight, unique data and information management, collection and analysis skills and technological equipped.

Organization and Management 

Organizational Structure 

An organizational structure is used in determining how responsibilities and roles in the company are controlled and assigned. The organizational structure can play a vital role in determining the ability of a company to adapt to change or even become competitive (Jain, 2005) At United Health Group, it will use a flat organizational structure. Through this, employees have the ability to interact with their supervisors or managers on a daily basis. The main advantage of this structure is that it supports a platform for employees to become part of the decision-making process (Jain, 2005). The excessive layers of management are eliminated thus there are better coordination and communication between employees and top management. Through this, it is an indication that employees have a much higher satisfaction rate thus increased job productivity and performance. This structure is also favorable for change as employees will also be part of the change process. Their input will be used in formulating new plans and strategies and thus there is room for minimal to no resistance. Unlike the hierarchical structure that is used by a considerable number of organizations, it does not support effective communication and coordination between employees and management (Jost, 2014). As a result of this breakdown in communication, implementing change is hard for it is met by employee resistance . Furthermore, it forms a platform for departmental rivalry and this hinders the employees’ job satisfaction rates thus poor productivity and performance hence the organization cannot compete effectively.

Employee Description 

The Director will be the leader of the business. He/she will be working with others to achieve organizational objectives and goals in changing the environment and therefore the director will be responsible for the efficient and effective running of the business. The supervisors will work be answerable to the director. The main duties will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business through coordinating and controlling the employees. Under the employee sections, it will comprise individuals with diverse roles. The medical customer service representatives will interact with clients on behalf of United Health Group. They will provide them with information related to the various services and products offered by the company, respond to client orders and complaints and process any returns.

The accountant will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. He/she will also analyze and monitor accounting data and produce financial reports or statements. More importantly, the accountant will make sure that United Health Group is adhering to all the set accounting policies and regulations accounting standards and regulations. The sales and marketing team will ensure that they market the organizational products and services to potential clients. Additionally, these two teams will also be involved in the R&D to ensure that all services and products meet client needs and want due to ever-changing customer preferences. The insurance department employees will make certain that they oversee all the insurance payments and claims made by the customers and client.

Diversity Incorporation 

As a result of globalization and increased technological advancement, employee diversity has become a social issue that a substantial number of organizations have started taking into consideration. Diversity can also be used as a competitive advantage for the business for its boots employee creativity, innovation and create good company reputation and image in public (Moore, 2011). In order to boost employee diversity in the organization, there is a need to develop a deliberate and holistic hiring strategy (Webb, 2017).

In case the pool of qualified employees does not match the business operational region demographics, one can come up with better hiring techniques that will increase diversity. It is also essential that one implements the Equal Employment Opportunity Acts guidelines as set by the Federal government. This will ensure that t he hiring process does not discriminate anyone regardless of their gender, age, race or any other demographical facet.

Correspondingly, it is necessary to provide diversity training at the company to make sure that the employees have an awareness of the importance of employee diversity. It is also important for one to ensure that there are policies that prevent any form of inappropriate behavior at the workplace especially one directed towards minority group members (Gaudiaono & Hunt, 2017). In case one raises a complaint about discrimination or bias, it should not be swept under the rug, but instead, there should be follow up procedures and appropriate actions to ensure the working environment is not one that will impair the growth of diversity.
