My deep interests in media and communication have developed since my childhood. I come from a family where most members work in the media. I thus draw my inspiration from them. My interest in media and communications has seen me put in massive effort throughout the years. I have developed my communication skills by engaging in projects and presentations. Consequently, I have grown my confidence and improved in most areas of my communication. I would like to pursue my course in a UK university since I feel it offers me the best chance of progression. The universities in UK are renowned for their excellence and commitment to media and communication studies. Of particular interest to me will be courses in publication. I like reading magazines and would thus one day love to work with a publication firm for a popular magazine such as Vogue, Bazzar , or Elle

My interest in media has seen me participate in various events and subjects that have helped reinforce my competencies in the area. During my high school, I was a member of Junior Achievement Club where I was involved in preparation of business plans. I was also in charge of the Public Relations department in a project about an imaginative business company. I learnt how to manage communication in an organization related to how the image is portrayed to the public. I also managed to improve my communication skills, particularly listening skills, which is important in media and communication industry.

I have also managed to increase my competence through watching talk shows that include Ted-ex Club where I had an opportunity to view multiple talk shows and then tried to recreate them in front of my classroom. The activity has helped to improve my public speaking skills and develop my confidence when addressing a large group of people. I have also developed time management skills from the experience. The media field and communications has time limits and deadlines that have to be realized. Good time management skills would thus help me excel in the area.

I have also gained valuable experience from non-paid and volunteer activities. At one time, I volunteered to be an administrator of my school’s MUN. The post and responsibilities gave me invaluable skills on both leadership and communication. I also observed how MUN works. I am confident that knowledge gained from the activity will be helpful in my learning and professional career in media and communications.

Apart from the professional perspectives of my life, my hobbies and interests include playing tennis, basketball, volleyball, and squash. I also did ballet for seven years. I enjoy doing photography during my free time. I am fascinated by amount of details that can be captured by a single shot. Photographs make it easy to describe a person or a place. I also enjoy travelling. I have travelled widely with my family thus exposing me to different cultures and environment. The cultural competence will help me excel in the field of media and communication.

I am determined to study media and communications in the UK. Pursuing the course will help me achieve my ambition of working in a magazine publishing company. I enjoy reading magazines, particularly Vogue and Elle . My dream is to change the world through objective portrayal of activities and events globally.
