This article discusses the various explanations as to the origin of racism. It discusses how the social and political hierarchies of the world influenced the classification of white and black as two distinct races. The author traces racism to the original words of the bible and finds no mention of race. The author links race to dominance that began with the Europeans discovery of Africa, and is unsure of whether race induced colonialism or colonialism induced race (Susan, 2001).
This exposes humanity on the basis of race, an unfortunate factor to consider in the natural interaction of mankind. It gives an account of depressing stories of how the whites have been able to exert their dominance on the blacks using a case of Tanzanians, whom everyone wants to become white, and those too poor to access the bleaching pill resort to using a traditional “koroga” type of bleach. I therefore, find the article deeply descriptive, and I suggest the world should embrace each other basing on humanity and not color.
