Sports help an individual with much more than just the physical aspects. They help in building character, strategic thinking, leadership skills, risk taking and analytical thinking just to name a few. Introducing new sports would not only help in benefiting hundreds and even thousands of people financially, but also bringing the games to the younger generation and reflecting the continuous urbanization of sports (The IOC Press, 2016) . Such additions allow more focus on flexibility, innovation and youth in the development of sporting programs.

Sports are described as a social phenomenon that is meant to bring people from different walks of life together. Not all people can fit into the mainstream sports such as football and basketball. Development of new sports can help in recognizing the interests of certain marginalized groups who deserve a bigger stage to highlight their prowess. A good example is the introduction of new sports to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo (The IOC Press, 2016) . These athletes will get better stages to compete on and entertain the world with new things they have not experienced before on such high level events.

Sports are a learning platform hence their fair share of ups and downs. New sports might involve health and safety hazards similar to those experienced by football players or athletes in other major sports. However, this should not be a reason to deter anyone from participating in the sport as long as they are protected adequately. People participate in a game for the passion they hold for it, but not the lower risks of injury that the sport possesses (Ghildiyal, 2015) . Sports help in learning perseverance even in difficult times building team spirit to achieve a common goal. It also teaches the participant the fundamentals of recognizing one’s strengths and abilities rather than fearing the opponent’s strengths and capabilities (Ghildiyal, 2015) . Therefore, the introduction of five new sports would be for the greater good and development of athleticism.
