The article, “ Voting in the Time of the Coronavirus”, was written to explore the dangers of entering the polling process amid the health-threatening Coronavirus pandemic. However, the report also states that as much as coronavirus is a danger to public health, failure to vote will threaten the United States’ political health (Sue Halpern, 2020). Although the author understands the perils that voting will expose public health to, she seems to be insisting on the importance of the election. Therefore, according to the way she sends the message, she seemed biased to the American political good.
In the first paragraph, as she talks about the postponing of Ohio’s primary election, the author, although she writes about exactly what happened, clearly shows her stand. She states, in the form of a reminder, that voters in Ohio enjoy the right to request for an absentee ballot and send their votes via mail. In the second paragraph, the author offers examples of elections that have been postponed in the past due to unplanned pandemics (Sue Halpern, 2020). However, she ends the paragraph by indicating that General polls will not be easily postponed. The Federal Law dictates general election dates; thus, changing them would call for an act of the Congress as well as president’s consent. She adds that a date change would still have various problems as it would most likely be challenged in the courts.

The author, in most of her article, talks about the elections and how the coronavirus will potentially affect them, rather than how elections, in the wake of Covid-19 will affect public health. According to her, due to the pandemic, a few changes in the election process are bound to be experienced (Sue Halpern, 2020). It will be challenging to adapt to these changes, but the general elections will have to take place despite the reality of the coronavirus pandemic.
