Did women in the west have more or less power (politically and socially) than their eastern neighbors? Why?

Women in the west believe that they have more political power as compared to their neighbors in the east since in the West there is much support for ideologies rather a person's gender. In the West, women are encouraged to vie for positions of leadership if at all they believe they can deliver, and subsequently, they get voters backup. On the other hand, women from the East have more social power as compared to those from the West, and the system is designed to give duties and responsibilities for social life

2. after reading Document 10-11, discuss why Woodhull feels the time is ripe for her election.

From the document, Woodhull believes that time is ripe for her to win elections because her agendas and ideas represent all persons in the background. She believes that all women are enlightened and it is the right time in history for women to stand with their own. She understands that it is time for people to support ideas of development rather than considering her gender.

4. Do you think the West is still glamorized today as a form of escape? Why or why not? Is it harder or easier for women to live in the west today?

I think the west is still glamorized today as a form of escape because it is seen as a zone that values the rights of women as well as encouraging them to the positions of representation. In the western world, the levels of gender equality are higher as compared to the East. I believe it is easier for women to live in the west since the society has been socialized and trained to value women and respect their ideas.

5. What did you think about the film Annie Oakley or Not for Ourselves Alone? How did they help you to understand the time period better?

The film "Not for Ourselves Alone" by Ken Burns gives a clear overview about the time and indicates that women go a lot of difficult situations including threat, labeling, and persecution as to rise to positions of power that requires much sacrifice and dedication. One needs to have strong political connections as a woman to be elected to positions of leadership even if they have good ideas.
