Walmart is the largest retail store in the world. The company employs everyday low prices to meet the needs of its customers. The company achieves cost leadership by engaging suppliers of goods sold. Walmart ensures that it benefits from economies of scale by negotiating low prices where the suppliers benefit from selling in volumes. The company has successfully changed the retail industry by forcing its competitors who differentiate their products to follow suit and reduce the cost of their products (Walmart, 2017). Customers who do not buy from the company also feel the effect due to the pressure that Walmart brings to its competitors.

According to cultural relativism, there is no final appeal and therefore the values and morality of a community cannot be dismissed as inferior or wrong compared to those practiced elsewhere. Based on this assumption accepting the offer to print two million copies per year should be determined from an economic perspective. It is critical to consider if taking the offer will benefit the community or not. If it is determined that such an offer will improve the well being of the community it should be accepted. The company should consider the utilitarian and communitarian theory as a lens in determining whether to accept the offer. According to the utilitarian theory, the utility of an action should be used to judge whether to perform it or not. Actions that produce the greatest benefit, good or well being to a larger population should be accepted (Cooper, 2014). The communitarian theory agrees that the moral thinking can be traced to the historical tradition of a community.

It is therefore critical to consider ethical issues in determining whether to accept the offer by Walmart or not. Similarly, the financial implications of such a decision must inform future decisions. The company should be able to consider the financial implications of expanding its operations to be able to print the required volume. The tax requirements and employee welfare must also be taken into account before signing the contract (Cooper, 2014). If the company was an international corporation, the effects of exchange rate, inflation, legal and regulatory issues and CSR should be considered in addition to the issues identified earlier.
