Many of the sociologists we know today were inspired to comment on humanity’s entry into modernity. The agreement was not mutual as there are some who found the movement ideal where there are others who suspicious towards the process. This move towards modernity had several modifications associated with it such in the rules of commitment, market-capitalism, administration, and shrewdness (Weber, 2013). For this reason, Weber made the argument that humanity is headed towards an iron cage. This notion was rightfully placed because he envisioned humanity where our relations would be objectified due to the changes stated earlier (Fuchs, 2014). This disappointment that Weber adopted had a certain resemblance to other sociologists such as Marx and his dialectical mechanism argument.
Weber: From the standpoint of a historical sociologist, the cultural significance that is entangled American protestant tenet is similar to those that were involved by the seventh century Puritans (Fuchs, 2014). This fast-tracked the development of contemporary capitalism, and this ethics can be traced back as far as the 18 th century (Fuchs, 2014). Overall, my notion is that historical events have detrimental effects on modern society as proven with modern capitalism, understanding the historical events that had a significant influence on it.

Marx: Many view my work on capitalism as not having historical references, but that is the contrary, my understanding of capitalism and how it has changes societies is historically rooted. By understanding the historical background of capitalism, one can understand how the alienated state of man today has historical materialistic backing (Andreski, 2013). With this statement, I duly agree with Weber on the effects of modern capitalism on society. The history of the struggle of social classes is the foundation of this argument. The best example for this is demonstrated with the separation of proletariat and bourgeoisie to two groups of workers and capitalists (Andreski, 2013). When the example is viewed from a capitalistic standpoint, the difference is similar to that of a landlord and a tenant; society is driven to be classified to a minimum of two classes.
Weber: It should be noted that though our arguments are similar the manner by which we approach the situation is different. I argue using historical facts but from the perspective of cultural influence. I believe that culture is the main catalyst to economic changes whereas your argument when analyzed is noted to be based on the contrary (Fuchs, 2014). In that, your arguments are based on the notion that economic change is the main reason that society and culture are modernizing.
Marx: Even though our ideology towards capitalism is similar and our approach towards identifying the problem are different, another aspect of our argument aligns, and that is the psychological factor of humans. In both our arguments we have addressed the notion of characteristic and emotional loneliness (Andreski, 2013). For example, in Weber's argument, he believes that it played a role in the Protestant work ethics whereby the individual yearning is to be saved. In my argument, on the other hand, I believe that the psychological aspect of humanity was the main catalyst for modern capitalism (Andreski, 2013).
Weber: Marx, your overall ideology about modern capitalism is true. However, the approach can be stated to be having a flaw. The arguments you make arguments by social class and procedures, rather than from the individual perspective (Fuchs, 2014). Other than this flaw we both have an aligned focus that there are specific human traits that primarily control the events of capitalism.
