As the single largest American payer, the government needs contemplate future directions to modernize health care system by introducing modernized skills and quality value health care, accelerating real-world evidence, and advance scientific research is be needed to achieve significant progress. Enhanced modern technology is essential in curbing most salient health threats and should be incorporated by the US government to improve interoperability and delivering the best health care services. According to a research by the institute of medicine (IOM), modern technology is important in carrying out both data analysis and acquisition, clinical advances in curation and regulatory reviews including innovation in the development and a continuously learning health system (Durenberger, 2015). Modern science is essential in the research of, for example brain disorders and training the workforce. 

The government should coalesce disease surveillance efforts by promoting the collaboration between the governmental agencies and the healthcare system. Concerted disease surveillance and reporting are integral in revolutionizing the healthcare landscape by curbing the occurrence and spread of diseases. The federal government authorizes and oversees the reporting of infectious diseases such as AIDS and submit data to the federal disease surveillance system (Niles, 2016). The government must take seriously public health matters including cases of newly emerging infection such as Legionaries disease or West Nile virus in North America

The government also has a role in democratizing the action for health. Healthcare needs to be safe, effective, practical, and understandable to account for family knowledge (Niles, 2016). In this regard, there is need for an easily accessible communication and information channels through which the citizens access their health information. The government needs to not only provide infrastructural platforms for this access but also spearhead the practical assurance for the patients’ ownership and confidentiality of their data.
