Just like the topic suggests personal ethics are simply individuals’ behaviors that identify them in the society. They are captured from the situations we encounter in our daily activities ( Stern, 2014) . These ethics or moral behaviors are different from professional standards that require people to adhere to the rules and guidelines of work ethics. In this paper, I am going to discuss four ethical values that believe to possess and how they contribute to my daily activities in life. The paper shall also include a brief description of how the values have contributed towards molding my personality.

Honesty

Honesty as a virtue refers an act of being truthful. That does not necessarily mean speaking the truth. Instead, it is doing things that are morally right. According to me, dishonesty begins with yourself before spreading out to the society. For people to do what is considered wrong by the society, they must begin by being dishonest to their conscience( Stern, 2014) . Arguably, every adult knows what is wrong and right as well as the consequences of the decisions made regarding their actions. However, people tend to do wrong knowingly hence emphasizing on dishonesty. Personally, I find it challenging to cheat or act contrary to what is right having in mind I will bear the repercussions.

Education

Being educated does not necessarily mean acquiring precise instructions in schools or training centers. I think it refers to any enlightening experience in the life of a human being.Scholars argue that information is power. That indeed means having knowledge regarding many things helps you to encounter the challenges that come your way in life( Stern, 2014) . I prefer being knowledgeable than educated. Reason being, there are things that a person learns from the society and not in class. For example, moral values like honesty and respect cannot be included in the curriculum, but they can be learned from following what other people does. Great people are not the most learned but those who think logically and help the society with their great ideas.

Equality

I believe I portray the value of equality in many ways during the daily activities. It is simply fair in everything you do. Justice requires people to have equal opportunities in life and enjoy the fruits of human rights together. However, that is not what happens in real life. There are people entitled to many benefits than others. Discrimination is real, and gender inequality is being practiced in the society. I advocate for equal status at work, at home, and within all the learning institution. That has enabled me to enhance unity wherever I go and relate with people easily.

Respect

Respect is the most important value in the life of human being. Without respect, there is no understanding which leads to peace. The admiration I have for people, and things with different achievement are what makes me interact with them. Respect is gained naturally and depends primarily on the surrounding environment of individuals ( Stern, 2014) . If a person is born in a society where respect is not emphasized, it is more likely to lack the value of respect for life. Ultimately, honesty, education, equality, and respect are all important in the operations of people both at work and at home. Personally, they have played a vital role in shaping my life as well as enhancing unity with other people globally.
