While at my previous place of work, several physical hazards existed and posed significant risk to the workers. These included bare electric cables, distended nails, unattended equipment, spillages, noise, and falling objects. A workplace with such materials presents a great threat to the safety of the workers. As a matter of fact, these materials brought about accidents and problems for a number of times and in turn, it affected the workers in different undesirable ways. As a safety officer, my focus will be towards ensuring that all employees remain safe while at work within the workplace. As such, I would see to it that all uncovered electric wires get proper covering to avoid any likelihood of an electrical shock. The covering of all bare electric cables and flexing will also improve safety.

Similarly, I would make sure that all the exposed sharp objects on surfaces are removed and enclosed to prevent exposure. Furthermore, all machines and equipment at the workplace would under no circumstances be left unattended. I would institute rules to ensure that running machines have operators present and upon completion of the task, the machines would be switched off. Objects and tripping materials should be removed from the paths and walking spaces. Staff would be employed to ensure that all spilled liquids and chemicals remain cleared from the surfaces to prevent instances of people falling and suffering injuries. Upon implementation of such measures, the place of work will become safer for everyone.
