Question 1

Naturally, human beings are said to be more peaceful than violent. Evidence shows that human beings cooperate more and this is a central facet to them because it manages to explain their success. Nonetheless, it should be noted that the nature of human beings is neither linear nor simple. Success for human beings entails the use of violence as it ranges from verbal anger to vicious acts of murder among others. Violence is seen to be an important [art of human beings because it is an aspect that is both complicated and diverse. The possible foundation of human violence in the current world is the fact that many people are faced with financial struggles. As such, their competitive nature forces them to engage in violence. Moreover, many human beings are unemployed and this has resulted in their current situations of not fully meeting their family’s basic needs. This then results in build-up pressures that translate down to violence.

Cultures are characterized with different communication styles, behaviors, and norms. Therefore, cultures have resorted in using alternative ways of engaging in conflict resolution such as the use of cultural transformation. This strategy uses interactive processes to resolve existing violence by reconciling tensions, finding common ground, and redefining their interests. This will entail the use of alternative dispute resolution, problem-solving workshops, and even reconciliations by using truth commissions. Structural prevention is the other alternative that is mostly used by human beings because it touches on immediate crises that are likely to erupt into deadly violence. In this strategy, laws and rules are established and have been seen to strengthen nonviolent channels for accommodating conflicting interests. Normative change is the last alternative intended to create new context for conflict resolution.

Question 2

The residents of colonias in Texas are in a very poor state of health because some homes lack insulation while others do not have a kitchen. There are those residents who suffer from mosquito infestations because their homes are located in flood zones; other colonials are exposed to harmful pesticides due to their closeness to planted farms or crops (Barton et al., 2015). Texas colonias is classified as the “highest health risk” because its residents of these unincorporated subdivisions have no waste-water treatment, no running water, no solid waste disposal or no paved roads.

The residence of Texas colonias is infested with water- and mosquito-borne illness that is rampant due to their poor drainages, leaking septic tanks that eventually contaminate their water, and pooling sewage. Asthma, lice infestations, and rashes are the other diseases that affect these residents because of cockroaches, burning garbage, mold, and vermin. Diabetes, dental problems and other chronic conditions affect the residents of Texas colonias due to their poor diet. The poor diet is as a result of the quality of food that has been a challenge for many colonials (Barton et al., 2015).

Dengue fever are the other cases affecting residents of the colonias as the virus is carried by mosquitoes that result from floods and non-air-conditioned homes resulting in their doors and windows remaining open most of the time. The health issues for Texas colonials are intertwined with the distinct social, economic, and cultural dynamics (Barton et al., 2015). The lifestyle of many colonials is not healthy because they lack the space to accommodate parks and public spaces where they can exercise in their areas of residence. They also lack transportation and are isolated which has contributed to their limited access to healthy alternatives and to health care. All these diseases show that the residents of the colonias rarely engage health practitioners in such cases because they have no health insurance covers and no money to access regular health care treatments.

Question 3

Religious differences are seen to increasingly cause animosity, mistrust, conflict, and misunderstanding. All these things are a threat to the progress of government institutions. In the 21st century, the differences mentioned continue to divide the human race. Such things hold the government back from reaching their full potential. The peace and unity of humans have become unattainable due to religion that continues to segregate people into clusters of either believers or nonbelievers. Believers are the ones bringing about the existing threat to government officials because they see nonbelievers as evil and undeserving of their association. In other instances, these nonbelievers are not of their humanity. Throughout the ages governments continue to manipulate masses by providing them with a sense of false security.

Religious revivals can act as antagonistic force because of the truth and reasoned proclaimed by the institution. The Church of todays is more of a slavish subservience that has opportunistic reasons. People today have secular characters of communal living and state and this has seen many Church leaders look for self-sufficiency. This implies that the society is recognizing that they have the capability of pursuing and realizing their own purposes. As such, they do not depend on other legitimation meaning that they are independent bodies of other worldly authorities. Such are the ways that a religious revival can be an antagonistic force affecting an established government. Many revivals today are not true to preaching God’s word, but are looking at fulfilling their own selfish interests. This has resulted in many Churches mushrooming in an attempt to capture the all so-ready ‘market’ of believers.
