In essence, the chosen issue regarding gender was identity. In this light, the aspect of personality is, therefore, a significant topic of concern that has grabbed a lot of attention in the contemporary society. People’s character is often comprised of an instead shared ideology, biases, ideas as well as ways in which an individual may view the world around. Consequently, individual’s identities are socially constructed making the biological attribute that people tend to have as only a single part of who one may be. Essentially, personality, therefore, plays a significant role in deciding whether one has political or political power.

Primarily, the position of this paper takes the stand that hegemonic masculinity that has taken shape in the western culture has no doubt had a damaging effect on men. The goal of this paper is to showcase how hegemonic masculinity has a detrimental impact on the society, particularly on men.

Ideally, hegemonic masculinity has influenced the overall personal identity of men in the American society who are not white, highly educated, middle class, and able-bodied heterosexual. Most cases involving bullying of gay boys are met with poor management of the situation that may further aggravate the psychological torture that comes with hegemonic masculinity 

Hegemonic Masculinity Theory recognizes the existence of multiple masculinities that vary across time, culture as well as the individual. In this light, hegemonic masculinity tends to legitimize the dominance of men in positions in a particular social setting. 

It is no doubt that Hegemonic masculinity has increased cultural insensitivity in the global community . In this light, there is a need for creating awareness across cultures on how damaging hegemonic masculinity is damaging male counterparts. 

Analysis

The issue regarding gay individual has taken a different stand in the society that is entangled in the traditional cultural heritage. As a result, men have for many years fallen victims of the hegemony masculinity in the contemporary culture. As a result, it is important to showcase and create awareness on the same.

It has become a norm in the community where women are labeled to do specific duties while men do others. In this light, the issue regarding identity has sidelined women as people known to be affectionate, warm, sympathetic, sensitive, and comfortable going while masculine trait has a strong personality, dominant, leader, and decide quickly. Additionally, identity has had a stereotypical belief that women are supposed to be in the kitchen learning how to cook with their moms while boys should be with their fathers hunting and farming. This issue has dominated the society for a good time now, therefore, validating its effects on an individual level. Although the current community has had some enlightenment regarding identity, its prevalence cannot be underestimated as it has proven persistent. Notably, this has resulted in damaging effects such as seeing gay people as abnormal individuals in the society.

There has been activism raising the issue surrounding hegemony masculinity in recent times to showcase how this issue has affected the culture and perception of identity. As a result, people are beginning to accept gay people in the community.

Due to the creation of activism in recent past regarding gay people, there has been the creation of gay rights in various parts of the world United States being among those to pass the gay rights. 

There has been the realization of equal pay across gender identity in recent time thanks to the activism against hegemonic masculinity across the globe.

Hegemonic masculinity ensures that men maintain dominant social roles than others. Consequently, this has had a damaging effect on other men who are thought to be less man such as gay people. 

Hegemonic masculinity increases social intensity. As a result, gay people have often undergone psychological torture in other parts of the world such as New Zealand.

There are undoubtedly various theoretical aspects in which this issue can be approached. One of the sociological theories that can be useful to conduct a sociological and modern interpretation of hegemonic masculinity is the gender order theory.
