Name at least four factors contributing to the rise of Progressivism at the turn of the twentieth century. Which do you consider to be the most influential? Why?
When progressivism began, the American people were facing a lot of problems, and they believed that an efficient environment, proper education as well as the provision of a suitable working place would address these problems. The factors that contributed to the rise of progressivism include high levels of poverty, class warfare among American citizens, racism, and greed. The most influential factor was poverty since it was significantly increased with the large numbers of immigrants who came into the United States during that period.

The reform movement is known as "Progressivism" sprang from many different sources and wasn't always a uniform program or philosophy. How were some "Progressive" ideas contradictory to others? How conflicting goals both could be considered "Progressive?"
The contradictory ideas during the progressive era are one of the limitations of the movement. One of the critical liberal controversial ideas is when Woodrow Wilson promised to legislate for open competition while another leader known as Theodore Roosevelt saw it was important that big businesses got coordinated by increasing the federal regulation. Either way, despite the contradictory ideas, they both had the interest of the ordinary American citizen.
Of the three major presidential candidates in 1912, which do you feel most genuinely represented the Progressive movement? Why? Were any of the three not true Progressives? Did the title "Progressive" carry any real distinction by this time?
Roosevelt is the only candidate that genuinely represented the progressive movement. Because he always spoke in favour of the progressive era during his campaigns and he was very aggressive traveling over ten thousand miles visiting over thirty-four states. The other three candidates were also progressives but not as aggressive and determined like Roosevelt. During this period, the title progressive was carrying a real distinction.
Identify three major developments that changed the lives of many Americans during the first two decades of the twentieth century. These can be political, social, technological, or other.
The first decade of the 19th century saw the development in technology where the Wright brothers had their first flight. Also, during this decade, there was a scientific discovery on the theory of relativity by Albert Einstein. The second decade of the twentieth century saw life-changing events to all American citizens. It’s during this period when the First World War began. Also during this decade, people died in New York due to fire that rampaged the Triangle twist factory.
The American mood toward the war in Europe changed dramatically during the late 1910s, from division to patriotic support for the war effort, to at least partial rejection of Wilson's plans for peace. What factors triggered these changes? Did public opinion direct government policy, or did the government shape public opinion?
These particular changes were as a result of the war climate. The American people decided to unite and be patriotic to their country. On the government policies, I think the public opinion did a lot in shaping up their various systems.
List five major developments in military technology first used on a large scale in World War I. How did they affect the conduct of the war as reflected in the organization, strategy, and casualties?
During the First World War, new technology was used by America. The first tank was used in this war. Another technique employed during this period was the modern flamethrower. Also, poison gas was another technology that was applied during this war. Also, during this period, the use of tracer bullets was incorporated, which made it easy to find targets during the night. Finally, the aircraft carriers were used. The airplanes were launched from a moving ship to the area of combat. The use of this new technology led to a lot of casualties as well as the disorganization of the opponent's strategies since some of the techniques that were used was being launched for the first time.
