Evaluation

The article examines the idea of creationism. This idea falls under pseudo-science because of its many assumptions while proving its validity using scientific knowledge or terminologies. The article does mention the input of some experts in support of the claim that God created the earth. One of them is Rowan Williams, who opined that creationism should not be taught in schools. He is a religious leader and not an authority on matters explaining the origin of the earth. The article also quotes Johnson, who argued that Darwinian Theory of evolution is not right and that creationism is true. However, Johnson is a professor of law and not archeology, and for that reason, he is not an authority in the area of creationism and archeology. Their credentials are unrelated to the claims they are making.

The article makes a definitive statement about the age of the earth without providing supporting information. For example, it says that the earth is around four billion years while talking about old earth creationism theory. It also states that the earth is 10,000 years old, according to young-earth creationism. These figures are just stated and have no support or proof. The article does not admit or assume to be wrong. It tries to offer explanations about creationism theory while relying on facts that science has disputed. The article, however, admits that creationism is unpaired and may devalue religious beliefs. The article claims that there is no sign of intelligence in how the earth was created, indicating that someone is responsible for the creation. Looking at the earth, there is no immediate realization of any special design work pointing to a creator. This statement is vacuous and needs to be supported.

Lessons

I have learned that pseudoscientific claims are there, and people can make conclusions based on facts that look like science from the surface value but are largely unsupported. The cheat sheet offers a criterion for evaluating facts and claims from stories and articles, helping to recognize the truth.
