The video "Why does it take so long to grow up" by Prof. Arnett discusses the reasons why it takes much time to grow in the present world as compared to how it used to be in the past. He argues that a lot has changed in the present world compared to about 50 years ago. Prof. Arnett claims that the revolution between 19760-70s set the stage in different ways for the current society. The professor makes three claims caused by the revolution. The three claims include technology, sexuality, and the women's movement.
First, Prof. Arnett claims that the technology revolution has made growing up slow. Prof. Arnett states that over the last about 50 years, the world's economy has transitioned from manufacturing to a knowledge economy. People have become good at developing things using machines; thus, few people are required. The manufacturing has improved about six times compared to how it was in the 1950s (Arnett, 2015) . He states that people currently do not walk to the factories and plants to work. The current jobs are about technology and information, which require advanced education (Arnett, 2015) . Therefore, people focus more on education to get stable jobs and prefer to get married and start parenthood when they get a stable job.

In the second claim, Prof. Arnett argues that the sexual revolution has made growing up slow. Prof. Arnett claims that the evolution of contraceptives in 1964 broke the age link between reproduction and sexuality, which led to a disconnection between marriage and sexuality (Arnett, 2015). He asserts that contraceptives facilitated the marriage age to rising and the sexual relations to reduce. He further claims that nowadays, people start sexual relationships as a teenager, a decade before entering marriage and parenthood (Arnett, 2015) . He further claims that today do not commit themselves to serious marriage commitments instead of spending more time in marriage break-ups.
Lastly, Prof. Arnett claims that the women's revolution has made growing slow. Prof. Jeffrey claims that a larger percentage of women go to school as compared to men. He stated that 58% of women today attend school while only 42% of men go to school (Arnett, 2015) . Besides, he asserts that this has changed how women think and plan on their lives. He also claims that women in the early days did not have much to do and therefore opted to get into marriage early. Currently, women in their early 20s want to focus on molding their lives through education and career.
Prof. Arnett makes three claims in the video. He talked about technology, sexuality, and women's revolution and their role in the slow growth rate today. I agree with Prof. Arnett that the change from manufacturing to a knowledge economy has resulted slowly in today's growth rate. Nowadays, people have focused on their personal development instead of parenthood commitments. Also, with the demanding economy, people opt to have a stable income that can sustain them in marriage. Additionally, people's commitments in their jobs have made them abandon the marriage and parenthood commitments resulting in break-ups.
