The reason I chose to do nursing was that I have always wanted to do something interesting, challenging, and that makes a difference in people’s lives. Every time I walked into a healthcare facility, I enjoy the variety of routine, and hence I thought to myself, “I want to be a nurse when I grow up.” The fact that it deals with the aspect of patient care triggered my passion even more. Besides, when I was in middle school, I lived with my Aunt, who was a nurse. Every time she came home after work, I would see the satisfaction that she felt having helped people throughout the day. This sparked my interest even more, and I knew that nursing was something I wanted to do my entire life, I wanted to be just like her. Helping patients get better, prevent future infections and then see the smiles of their faces is so fulfilling.
Unlike Penny, I was rational about my future, and it wasn’t just a dream that I had while sleeping. It was a dream I lived every day, one of the few things I have been sure about actually. Nursing can be demanding, and sometimes the work outweighs the pay you get in return due to a shortage of nurses, so just like Penny, I think it is not a very fashionable job (Armstrong & Feldman, 2006) . Everything has got its advantages and disadvantages, though, so it’s still my dream career. With this kind of job security is assured unless you decide to quit and it has much to offer aside from job growth.

I want people to believe in the health system through my services. I know that sometimes things will not go my way, but still, I want to take care of people such that they feel cared for and listened to. This is because I want to understand their concerns and sufferings. When my patients start seeing me as a caring and competent nurse, they will feel confident under my care and hence improve the treatment outcome (Gunawan et al., 2019). I get discouraged when things don’t go my way, and that is why I do my best always when I set my mind on something. No one could change my mind. Even though the shifts for nurses may be long, the job is exciting, and the profession is fast-paced. As a result, my life as a nurse will never be boring. I hate boring; it freaks me out.
