For a country’s long-term benefit, it is important to raise public consciousness on the importance of working together to develop the country. It is crucial to boost education and research as a fundamental basis for strengthening our capacity to address society’s most pressing structural problems.
This cluster has defined its vision to become an established global leader in advanced materials research. There are three themes that are involved in this cluster. They include advanced materials with versatile applications, human resource development, and a knowledge hub for advanced materials such as nanomaterials, catalysts, bioplastics and biomaterials polymers and rubber, composites, semiconductors, dental materials, ceramics, and construction research undertaken by research groups within the cluster (Glass et al. 2014). Each research group shares their findings in their respective research and development activities to facilitate knowledge transfer and utilization by industry.

Our rapidly aging society, coupled with demographic changes, technological advances, and economic crises is affecting our work and way of life. It is, therefore, necessary to prepare and plan to avoid social problems in the future through research. Universities have brought together faculty members and researchers in related disciplines to undertake cross-disciplinary research. In addition they have social, economic and technological innovations that promote the potential, health, and capacity of the elderly, and ensure their health and self-reliance, to enhance the quality of life ( Fägerlind & Saha, 2016) . The findings of the research groups sheds light on and help mitigate the impacts of the economic crisis on the lives and wellbeing of citizens. For example, a human-robot interaction technology assists therapists to rehabilitate patients; superimpose MRI image helps medical team to discuss and analyze deeply, and big data synthesis can efficiently provide medical service for communities.
