Despite the tremendous efforts of many human rights organizations to enhance equality between men and women, there is still a gap that exists. There is continued dominance of men in almost every sector of society, and this has been proved to be a fact in the criminal justice workforce. All fields of criminal justice workforce, such as the police, prosecution, court system, and correction are highly dominated by men. There are several reasons that men hold for not involving women in the criminal justice workforce. The structure of criminal justice is rigidly hierarchical. Men prefer themselves as having the necessary job qualifications over women. When it comes to the methods of appointment, men are chosen to fill gaps in the criminal justice sector since they are deemed to be best suited than women. Some of the tasks, such as arresting male criminals or guarding male prisons, are hard for women, and this acts as a barrier for them to excel in this sector.

Men hold the stereotype that they are always the best in everything. Men thumb up themselves for being professional, having a good background and experience. They regard themselves as incorruptible, more intelligent, extra industrious, and highly independent compared to women. This makes them ignorant to accommodate women as part of the criminal justice workforce, and thus, even the able women are excluded from this profession. Men also are known to have a high level of seniority in this area. This field from the past has been associated with men who are unwilling to give up some positions for women. This is shown in courts where men are allocated special rooms, and the order of judges favors them as they regard themselves superior to women. Men, therefore, limit the involvement of women in this field to maintain their image to the general public. For these reasons, men continue to oppose having women as part of the criminal justice workforce.
