Physiology and anatomy are broad areas found in the biological scope. Both areas are related as anatomy deals with studying the structure and shape of the body, its parts, and their association with each other, whereas physiology entails studying how the body parts functions and work (American Physiological Society, 2017). The two areas need to be studied simultaneously as one needs to understand the names and location of the body parts and how each part works. Anatomy confines the external and internal structures of organisms and the location and form of the organ structure. Additionally, it focuses on the whole body and identifies and describes the large huge body parts that can be seen. Brazier (2020) notes that anatomy deals with the cellular structures which are microscopic and how they relate to each other.
Physiologists need knowledge in anatomy to understand the location and form of the body organs, cells, and tissues and how they are correlated to function. According to WebMD (2019), physiology helps describe the chemistry behind the body functions and the way molecules behave in cells, and how organs work collaboratively. Physiology includes studies on the mechanisms and processes that enable an organism to grow and survive. Additionally, it deals with controlling the body's internal environment even with the change in internal changes in the external parts of the body. Lastly, it helps individuals to understand how a healthy body function and what happens for an individual to get ill.

The functions of the body structure are dependent on the form and how the structures work depends on how they are organized. The arrangement of the body part determines how it plays its role within an organism. For example, a hand manages to grab something due to its shape and length, and the mobility of the fingers determines what items the hand can grab. Also, the arrangement of bones and muscles enables the muscles to contract and bring bones together, and the arrangement of organs inside the muscle cells determines how much and long a muscle can contract—studying anatomy and physiology help in understanding the practical and theoretical functions and concepts of the body.
