The American dream is the belief that every person can become successful, no matter where they come from. They only need to work hard, sacrifice and take risks. The American dream does not come by chance. A better example of the American dream is becoming more successful than your parents or forefathers by being financially free. Being able to graduate from the university without debts and getting the job of your dreams. It can afford the health costs and, at the same time, save for your retirement and still lead a comfortable life. In the video " Imagine ," as it names says, the American dream is just an imagination. The video brings a clear picture of how the American dream is almost impossible to achieve. The video gives hope of how things can be one day, and this is the same as the American dream, where it is a dream with hopes that we can all achieve it (Johnlennon, 2016).
However, the American dream is just a dream, and there is no hope for it ever to become a reality. At one point, the American dream meant owning a house and having a dream job and driving that big car or even going for a vacation now and then. As days go by, those things are becoming hard to achieve, and now it's all about surviving and taking a day at a time with no hopes of achieving big things. People are living with worries about where to get the next meal or even money to pay rent. There is no hope for the American dream.

The image from the video that signifies my new understanding of the American dream is when a couple walks towards the house, holding each other cold. When reaching the door, they find it closed, but somehow they managed to get in. This is the same as the American dream; it has become hard for it to become a reality.
