In an article published by the ABC News/Washington Post on September 22, 2017, poll results showed that 56.33% preferred Obamacare to Graham-Cassidy bill. The poll was conducted to get public views on whether the preferred Obamacare or the GOP Obamacare alternative proposed by the Republicans. Further, remarkably, in the poll, almost 23% (a quarter of Republicans) and 31% (a third of conservatives) stated that they would prefer Obamacare to the GOP plan (Langer, 2017). The results matched those of previous public opinions on GOP repeal-and-replace effort, that had failed on June the same year. Americans preferred Obamacare to that plan by 50.24%, with a 20-point advantage for the current law strongly. The survey was carried out by cellular and landline telephone between September 18th and 21st, 2017, in Spanish and English, amongst a random nationwide sample consisting 1,002 grown-ups (Langer, 2017). According to the findings, the margin of sampling error was 3.5 points, which included the design effect. Besides, a 95% confidence level was used.

Overall, the poll is very trustworthy because it was produced by a reputable research firm, Langer Research Associates of New York, while Abt Associates of Cambridge, Massachusetts did sampling, data collection, and tabulation. Using third-party research firms helped in eliminating bias and enhancing the credibility of the poll results. Besides, the poll used random sampling to survey the respondents through landline and cell phone. Random sampling is among the best methods for sample selection from a population of interest. Random sampling is advantageous because the sample represents the target population and it also eliminates sampling bias. Therefore, the results of this poll are very could be very credible and reliable. To improve the results reporting, I would have considered a larger sample size in the survey, as I believe that a sample of only 1,002 adults was too small to represent the public opinion of millions of adult Americans.
