1. The middle-class segment feels insecure due to high pressure to work extra hard to lead a good middle-class life and support their families. They have a fear that the efforts they put in their work do not bear the intended fruits. Every struggle seems to land them on the same economic level.

2. The unintended consequence of hiking the minimum wage is that the low-skilled people lose their jobs while low-income families bear the imposed economic cost. The food industry has adapted to these by reducing the number of staff and raising the menu prices. This helps in coping with increased labor cost due to a minimum wage hike.

3. The collapse of marriages, births outside marriage by those unable to support children, and lack of awareness on the benefits of marriage, are the major factors that contribute to the rise of single-parent families and poverty. In all racial groups, marriage reduces the possibility of poverty. The percentage of poor married couples with children is considerably too low compared to that of single parents with children.

4. The image of a family in television in the 1950’s was that of an ideal family which everyone desired to have. Gradually, the television families have changed to reflect the reality in the world such as single-parenthood, dating, and promiscuity. In the 20 th Century, family bonds were strong and more rational conflict resolution techniques were utilized. Change of values is reflected by the unending wrangles between parents and children or among siblings. The desire for monetary possession has overridden family love both in television families and in reality.

5. Large portions of populations have moved to suburbs because it keeps them away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial city. The suburbs have less traffic and pollution hence offers a comparably calm atmosphere. Secondly, urban areas are crowded and densely populated compared to the suburban.
