The sun’s position in the tropics makes July the warmest month as it moves towards the equator. The sun’s axis affects the temperatures of the city because when the sun is in the northern hemisphere, the temperatures are high and the city experiences summer conditions. However, when the sun is in the southern hemisphere, cities in the northern hemisphere experience winter. It is for this reason that Woodbury has low temperatures in January. The relationship also causes the spring (Vernal) Equinox and Autumnal (fall) equinox.
