I was tangled in a role conflict in a medical facility. I felt emotionally drained as I was actively taking care of the patient in critical condition. Unfortunately, a conflict emerged when my colleague showed up and requested assistance to attend to another patient. However, I declined the request and was blasted off after being branded as lazy. This led to a skirmish of words between my colleague and me before other nurses heard the noises and arrived at the station. The nurses calmed the furious nurse as he seemed deserted. They later advised me to discover an individual’s attitude and preserver as views may be diverse. The request process was then repeated as the furious nurse was asked to request assistance courteously.

The outcome of the conflict was positive. In this case, since it involved distressing moments, I learned that it is vital to listen regardless of my situation or seek assistance. On the other hand, my colleague learned the art of seeking help courteously and the recommended manner of responding to unexpected occurrences. Disputes that draw resolves can either result in an individual agreeing with the pronouncement, both agreeing with the verdict or all failing to agree (Wallenstee, 2018). Also, we accepted the resolutions agreed upon by other members of staff at the facility.

Conflict circumstances may be averted. To avoid a similar occurrence, the management should integrate distinct regulations emphasizing every personnel's roles (Jeong, 2018). This may help better understand the state making accurate choices concerning the patient that should be prioritized. The colleagues should refer to the present rules about the organizational culture and work principles at the hospital.

Professional civility refers to respecting other individuals in the line of profession and peacefully co-existing with colleagues (Fritz, 2017). It comprises of deeds of disregard to individuals at the work station. Professional incivility is regarded as a leading factor in workplace disputes. Disputes restrict nurses' contributions. Conflicts result in violence, resulting in physical harm. This reduces nurses’ input at the facility. Conflicts result in a reduction in commitment from the health practitioners (Lanz& Bruk‐Lee, 2017). Less commitment signifies the diminished quality of patient care.

Armstrong (2018) states that expert incivility at the workstation impacts the environment and quality of care. Moreover, he says that workplace incivility results in post-traumatic tension amongst nurses. This has an impact on the input quantity and quality of patient care. They also indicate that workplace incivility results in lower enthusiasm amongst nurses, which harms the working environment and patient care.
