The two injuries selected include burns and shock. Firstly, burns refer to damage to the deeper tissue and skin caused if one comes into contact with heat, fire, radiation, electricity or caustic chemicals (Xu, 2014) . Burns are commonly categorized based on the depth as well as the extent of the skin damage. Three main categories of burns are used which include the first degree burns, second-degree burns, and third-degree burns. In the case of the first-degree burns, the skin is painful, red and very sensitive to touch. At the same time, the damaged skin can be slightly moist due to leakage of the fluid from the deeper skin layers. On the other hand, the second-degree burns involve deeper skin damage as well as the presence of blisters on the skin that commonly appear after the burn. The skin is always painful as well as sensitive to touch. The third-degree burns are characterized by the injuries on the tissues in all layers of the skin, which become dead as well. In most cases, there are no blisters on the skin. The skin surface that has been burnt may appear normal, black-charred, white or bright red from the blood that is at the bottom of the wound. It is critical to note that burns that are categorized under the third-degree cause damage on the sensory nerves inside the skin, which leads to the painless nature of the burns since the burned skin loses the sensation to touch (Xu, 2014) . I decided to select burns since I wanted to remind myself of the first aid steps that one should take in an emergency situation. Further, I have come across many instances where members of my community have undergone burns of different kinds including from electricity, which also contributed to this interest.

On the other hand, I came to realize that I know little about shocks. Shocks occur after the amount of blood that reaches the brain, as well as other parts of the body, is significantly reduced. Since the blood carries the oxygen required by all body cells, the reduction of the amount of blood flow makes the cells be deprived off of oxygen. Notably, the primary aim of selecting shock was to understand the basic aspect of its first aid such as if it is advisable to cover the victim with a coat.

Regarding burns, I came to note that it is not advisable to try and treat the elderly - over 65, as well as the young ones- under 5. Instead, they should be checked by a medical professional. This is extremely important to ensure that those who are ignorant of such information are advised appropriately. However, as one is being taken to hospital due to burns, it is recommended to continue pouring water especially if the pains have not subsided. Under the FAQ question, I also learned that it is not appropriate to apply any ointment or other folk remedies such as butter or lard to burns as is commonly done by many individuals in my community. Instead, water is the only recommended remedy as a first aid to the burns.

The critical thing that I learned about shocks is that before a victim is taken to a hospital, it is necessary that he or she be kept lying down on the back with the feet risen approximately a foot higher than the head. The objective is to ensure that blood is flowing to the heart and the brain. Under the FAQ question, I learned that the victims should be covered by a blanket or coat to keep them warm.

Although there are many benefits related to this app, the simple step by step instructions stood out for me. Navigation is also easy, and there are different features such as videos and shareable badges that are helpful as well. In my future engagement, I wish to use this app in educating the public and my community on simple emergency processes that they can apply.
