Leadership plays a huge role in any organization or even at country level. In the past, I have interacted with all manner of leaders. My current leader assumes the charismatic style of leadership. His style relies heavily on persuading his followers to believe in his ideas and he is always committed to the cause (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). My current leader is good at using convincing words, and as such, he manages to engage individuals around him to remain committed. He believes in sparking change in lives of his people (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). Whenever he opens his mouth to speak, he has already convinced his subjects that the objective is half achieved. Whenever there is a crisis, he is there to offer the much needed moral support, besides speaking to people in a way that no other member in the organization can. He remains focused on the goals and he is able to speak the vision that he wants us to achieve (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013).
In view of the three leadership style, I would prefer to work for a charismatic leader because they help a lot in improving productivity. With a charismatic leader, one feels that there is someone in-charge because everyone is assigned a role, and deadlines are very strict (Zehndorfer, 2015). For that reason, people remain committed to the task and projects are completed in time. Given that I perform well while under pressure, I would prefer charismatic leadership any day. Under such a leader, I am keen to perform and in most cases, I specialize and acquire skills that I did not otherwise have (Zehndorfer, 2015). Charismatic leadership is effective considering that roles of every member are clearly outlined, thus rules are followed and every person in the group is answerable.
