The medical issue related to the data from the 252 men is hypertension that is associated with the weight of the men. Hypertension is typically associated with obesity. Therefore, if a person is obese, he would be prone to the risk of hypertension. Notably, a large percentage of body fat can be associated with obesity, which in turn leads to hypertension. The hypothesis statement for the research on this medical issue is as follows:

Null hypothesis, H 0 : The association between BMI and percentage of body fat is not statistically significant

Alternative hypothesis, H 1 : The association between BMI and percentage of body fat is statistically significant

The dependent variable, in this case, will be the BMI of a person and the independent variable will be the percentage of body fat. The amount of fats in a person’s body would most likely determine the BMI of that person. To determine the risk of hypertension, the additional data that can be collected is the BMI of the 252 men. This data will be useful in defining if the level of body fats has exceeded the required level, and therefore, the risk of hypertension is high. The plan for this data collection would involve using the percentage of body fats and calculate the BMI levels.

The measurement strategy for this relationship is the regression analysis, whereby the BMI will be the response variable, and the percentage of body fat is the predictor variable. Therefore, the expected evaluation plan will be the regression line alongside the regression equation. The strength of this study is that it can display the significance of the body fats in explaining the BMI of an individual. The limitation of the study design is that there is a possibility of other factors that determines BMI and are not included in the regression model. The ethical issues in this study are that the personal information of the participants should not be included in the data analysis plan. Also, the data will not be collected without the participants’ consent. The results of the study can be used for predicting the possibility of hypertension and identifying the appropriate nursing approach to the issue.
