I may present the data in a scatter diagram. It graphs numerical data in pairs with one variable on the X, and the other on the Y axis. In this case, the mother’s IQ could be placed on the X axis with the person’s IQ on the Y axis. This will help in the determination of mother-child IQ relationship. If there exists a correlation between them, the points will be along a curve or line. A good correlation is indicated when all the points are compactly found on a straight line. Additionally, I could carry out a linear regression analysis on someone’s IQ and that of their mother (Larson, Farber, & Larson, 2015) . With this, I will come up with a model to help predict people’s IQ basing on their mother’s.

The things which could be related in my life are saving money and feeling financially secure, spending time in direct sunlight and experiencing sunburns, and spending time running on the treadmill and burning calories. My life would improve if I exploited these issues. For instance, realizing that saving and gaining financial security are related will motivate me to save more to be more secure. Knowing the relationship between the hours spent in direct sunlight and experiencing sunburns would help me reduce the chances of experiencing sunburns by spending fewer hours in direct sunlight. Lastly, I would burn more calories by spending more time on the treadmill.

I would use correlation to help me achieve the issues of saving, avoiding sunburns, and burning calories. This is because this technique is good at measuring the relationship between two continuous variables. This is significant especially in the case of burning calories and spending time on the treadmill. Additionally, I will employ the use of a scatter plot in the case of saving money to gain financial stability. I will plot the amount of savings on the X axis and the percentage of financial stability on the Y axis. It will assist me to gain a visual understanding of the correlation.
