Based in Denver, Colorado, Frontier Airlines is a US ultra-low cost carrier, which serves over 61 destinations, 54 within the country and 5 internationally. It is Indigo Partners, LLC’s subsidiary and brand. From its main hub at Denver International Airport, the airline operates many flights to and from its 61 destinations. It has a fleet of 56 aircrafts which it plans to double to 101 aircrafts by 2020 (Frontier, 2015). This means recruitment of more employees. Currently, it has 3, 808 employees and certainly the number may double to accommodate the doubling of the fleet (Pankratz, 2013). Despite its ability to create employment opportunities, Frontier Airlines is under fire for unequal or discriminatory treatment of its female employees.
Through the American Civil Liberties Union, four female pilots of the airline have filed a case with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for policies that discriminate against pregnant women and new mothers (Bryson, 2016). Decades back, some of the airlines flight attendants had to struggle to keep their jobs after they got pregnant. In the current case, the four women want the airline to change its policies on maternity leaves. They also want the airline to make it easier for new mothers to breastfeed or facilitate privacy for the mothers to pump their breast milk once the resume working. According to Bryson (2016) attempts by the women to dialogue with the airlines to find a solution at policy level failed and the women had to seek alternative help.

Three organization behavior issues are evident in this scenario. The airline does not appreciate diversity and changes in the workplaces that have occurred in the 21st century. Women are no longer confined to roles that were traditionally female. They are now taking up jobs such as piloting that were considered masculine. The airline also seems not to value employee’s privacy and rights. By limiting the number of unpaid maternity leaves, and the number of days for each leave, the airline violets the rights of expectant mothers, and undermines their privacy by not providing proper facilities for breast milk pumping.
