Leadership is a broad field which has no boundaries and no one can describe its specifications. There are different types of leaders in the world, and each of them possesses different qualities. Some leaders are portrayed as charismatic and democratic while others are dictatorial and powerful. I believe one of the greatest leaders of all time is Bill Gates. William (Bill) H. Gates III is the CEO, co-founder and chairman of one of Microsoft Corporation which is one of the world’s top software provider for computers (Yoffie & Cusumano, 2015). With his transformational leadership style, Gates has achieved a lot throughout his career.
According to Befcraft (2014), Bill Gates has not only received Doctorates from various institutes and universities like Harvard, but he also got knighted in 2005 by Queen Elizabeth II because his contributions were of great advantage to the British community (Becraft, 2014). From the year 1995 to 2007, Gates was listed among the world’s richest people by Forbes magazine (Kroll & Dolan, 2017). Together with his wife, they were also awarded the Order of the Aztec Eagle in Mexico for their generous welfare works in the society (Yoffie & Cusumano, 2015). I believe Microsoft succeeded because of the strife and hard work of Gates.

Bill Gates’s leadership skills have set a precedence to many upcoming leaders and businesspeople because of the efficiency of his tactics which brought tremendous returns for Microsoft. Gates is a type of leader who has never manipulated anyone for his personal gain or made any rash threats (Becraft, 2014). With his ability to influence someone by giving them something that is of value to them, Bill Gates is known for awarding his employees with huge remuneration packages. He is also good at making his employees positive and more confident at work. Gates was gifted with a smart brain in technology, and he was humble even to his employees.
I believe my current supervisor is also a leader because of his commitment to his job and the way he handles us as employees. He has an inspiring leadership style because of his past success and a good personality. My supervisor is also a leader who always aims to complete his tasks to the best of our abilities. He is someone I admire a lot because of his power to control the company’s resources and influencing us to do our best at work.
Throughout my studies, I have always been interested in Fielder’s Contingency theory of leadership. Fred Fielder’s theory is a contingency model of effectiveness in leadership which is among the extensively researched theory. Fielder’s leadership style is concerned with the interaction between a leader and workgroup (Fielder, 2015). What draws my attention is the fact that leaders are likely to have more influence with their members or employees if they keep a good relationship with them like showing them trust and respect. According to Fielder, (2015) there is also no ideal leader according to Fielder and that an organization should not choose their leader according to the situation but rather change the situation to fit their leader’s style.
