Samuel. M Walton 

Samuel Walton was born on 29 th March 1918 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He was a prominent American businessman best known as a founder of the retail chain Wal-mart, which has grown into the largest global corporation. 

Henry Ford 

Henry Ford was born on 30 th July 1863 in Michigan, on a rural farm near Detroit. He developed into an industrialist who changed the face of automobile manufacture in America. As an automobile manufacturer, Henry revolutionized the assembly line for the automobile, making the Model T, America’s greatest inventions. 

Walton broke the existing convention and introduced large discount stores in the rural areas that greatly thrived. Henry developed a reputation for being a watchmaker after developing an interest in mechanical devices. 

Samuel Walton was the founder of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. that was founded in 1962. 

He launched the Wal-Mart Discount City store with a determination to market American-made products. 

Walton purchased the “Ben Franklin” store in Newport, Arkansas with an aim of improving the accessibility of the consumers. 

Launched the first Sam’s club in 1983, located in Midwest City in Oklahoma. 

Demonstrated a great emphasis on logistics in evaluating the location of Walmart’s regional warehouses. 

Samuel Walton was named the wealthiest man in the United States by the Forbes magazine (Walton & Huey, 1993). 

In 1896, Henry Ford built an early horseless (self-propelled) carriage popularly known as the Ford Quadricycle. 

He founded Ford Motor Company, one of the most successful companies in the world. 

Ford developed model T, which was the first affordable automobile. 

Through his moving assembly line, he revolutionized the automobile industry. 

Ford doubled his worker’s pay by introducing the $ 5-day wage. 

Also established the Ford Foundation, advancing human welfare. 

He was the pioneer of Fordism, an industrial concept for mass production. 

In addition, Ford made contributions to the aviation industry including the construction of the first American airliner, Ford Trimotor (Gelderman, 1981).
