My leadership philosophy follows the core tenets of a servant leader who considers the needs of their people first. As a leader, I am always positioning myself to improve my people regardless of their competence. 80% of my leadership philosophy has been enhanced by the course materials. Apart from providing me with a deep foundation on all matter’s leadership, the course has also provided the environment through which I have come to understand my leadership philosophy and the directions I need to improve. Below are the 10 practical lessons I learned from my father about being a servant leader. They are also my source of inspiration
Listening
As a servant leader, I have learned to always be available for my people. Whenever we are interacting, I always pay full attention to them, listening intently not only to what they are saying, but also their body language. I never interrupt and always provide constructive feedback.

Empathy
As a servant leader, I have learned be empathetic as my modus operandi. It is not just enough to keep an open mind. I also have to always view the world and situation from both my side and the perspectives of my people.
Healing
My mission as a servant leader is to make sure that my people have all the support they need. This includes knowledge and resources to perform their job. Personally, I also ensure that my people are mentally and emotionally Healthy.
Self-Awareness
As a self-aware leader, I am always introspecting on my behavior and mental states and consider how they help or affect those around me. When I am open about my strengths and weaknesses, I am ready to receive feedback on them from my people and always willing to work towards improving my leadership.
Persuasion
Though I am aware that my leadership capacity gives me the authority to get people to do things my way, I prefer to persuade them. As a result, my people join and follow my directions because they support my position and are always ready to challenge it if they believe I am wrong.
Conceptualization
As the leader, I am aware that I also need to be looking beyond the day-to-day activities and collectively steer my people forward. As a result, all my teams always have mission and vision statements, which align their activities with the organization's short and long-term strategies.
Building
Part of my leadership tenure involves building communities between my people and the rest of the organization to increase commitment. I manage to do this by always encouraging interaction between all employees of the organization, inside and outside the scope of work, such as team events and lunches.
Stewardship
Stewardship implies accepting the responsibility of being accountable for my people's work in the organization. Such includes the actions and performance of my teams and standing up for them in situations where they are forced to act against their personal values, beliefs, and ethical standards.
Commitment to Growth
As a servant leader, my principal mission is to ensure that my people are always growing towards their goals. By assessing and understanding their developmental needs, I am always prepared to provide all the support they need, from improving their skills to helping them achieve personal goals.
