Dr. Arliss Loveless is a character in the 1999 movie known as ‘’Wild Wild West’’ and acts as an evil villain who despite his condition, he becomes a strong character that does not let his condition to stop him from doing great things. He was able to kidnapped prisoners despite his condition and turned them into slaves who made weapons for him.
Dr. Loveless used the mechanical spider as a weapon. Although it was used against him by West, a factor that led to his death, the mechanical spider was a metaphoric representation of a wheelchair. It was a depiction that even though he couldn't walk, he was compensated with immense qualities that made him a successful character in the movie.
