Every time, there has been news on the impact of climate change which has been responsible for a considerable number of deaths. Due to climate change impacts, people have been left counting losses since the heavy rains have destroyed many properties, hurricanes, flooding, and much more ( Allen et al., 2010). It, therefore, calls for a serious discussion on the impact of climate change and how it can be addressed. It calls for a massive and comprehensive debate on the issues which we should expect in case of climate change and how best such matters can be handled and how well climatic change can be reduced to reduce such kind of impacts in case it occurs. This paper, therefore, presents a comprehensive discussion of some of the effects of climate change a how their implications can be controlled or minimized. This article aims at contributing to population awareness of some of the impacts of climatic change which we have to expect in case we cannot take the initiative to have the climatic change impacts controlled or minimized to save lives and properties in case they happen. The effect of climatic change on the ecosystem, economies and the general community is very evident and devastating. Climatic change exposes us to diseases, poverty, and death whenever it occurs. The world has already been transformed significantly by the effects of climatic change. This call for quick action since any delay may bring about changes that risk changing the world for the worst. Some of the effects of climatic change as discussed as follow; the first is increased temperature. Climatic change can bring about high temperatures on earth. For instance, NASA revealed that in the year 2015, the earth's temperature was very high. This record is significant since "a change of even 1 degree Fahrenheit – which may sound small – can upset the delicate balance of ecosystems, and affect plants and animals that inhabit them." The impact of high temperatures cannot be underestimated on earth. The high temperature is responsible for the melting of ice worldwide. This includes "mountain glaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica and Greenland, and Arctic Sea Ice." the melted ice increases the level of oceans in the world hence causing terrible flooding in such areas. Floods are never friendly to human beings and animals. They sweep away properties and kill a massive number of people. This hence is responsible for the high rate of death and lagging economy in some parts of the world. Secondly, climatic change exposes the world to droughts, storms, and floods. An increase in temperature brings about high evaporation from the ground and hence increases the chances of drought on earth. With the drought, challenges are inevitable. First, there will be fewer crops that will survive in drought situations on earth. This is a clear indication that the world will be devoid of staple food such as maize, rice, coffee, and many others which depend on cold conditions for survival. This brings about significant hunger and poverty in the world. This will, in turn, lead to a high number of deaths from hunger, poverty, and malnutrition. Droughts also bring about economic instability which leads to increased crime as well as insecurity among the population. Storms are possible with a climatic change in the world. The impact of storms is diverse on human, plant and animal life. Storms destroy anything on their way, including buildings, plants, and people. It results in massive property destruction and the death of people. Storms bring about massive losses to people and hence is responsible for economic dwarfism in many parts of the world. Hurricanes have been tied to a considerable number of deaths and property destruction which has made life almost impossible in most parts of the USA, Japan, and many other parts of the world. Floods, on the other hand, are worse ( Bellard et al ., 2012). Floods result from the melted Ice which also increases the level of the oceans hence causing massive flooding which sweeps almost everything on its way. Flooding causes enormous infrastructure destruction and many others. It causes the death of people plants and animals. Moreover, climatic change has a significant impact on economic development in the world. The world economic impact due to climatic change is tough to predict, however, “It’s safe to say that many key economic sectors – from fishing to energy to water utilities – will feel long-term impacts of climate change.” First, the rising seas are one of the major impacts of climatic change. This has a significant impact on the economy. First, it introduces some strange species on the oceans which cannot cohabit with fish. This brings about a negative impact on the fish industry as they reduce the population of the fish and eliminate some species of fish that are very important the world. It brings about a reduction on fish hence suffocating the fish industry which is one of the most important industries in the workless. Alternatively, flooding causes infrastructure destruction when they occur. Reconstructing these infrastructures such as bridges, roads, buildings and much more is not a walk on a red carpet. It needs a lot of money to be allocated to them, which could have been used in other sectors such as health and education to have this necessary infrastructure rebuilt. This brings about economic jeopardy in many countries in the world. "Even recreation and tourism industries are weather-dependent – with many planning based on historical weather patterns, which climate change will disrupt." tourism and many other industries are all critical in boosting the economy of the country. In case they are interfered with, they bring about economic instability within the nation hence limiting its growth. With economic uncertainty, many sectors such as education also risks being affected by there will massive lack of school fees and many others. Lastly, the entire community is also not safe in case there is climate change. Many people live around or near the seas, oceans and many other vulnerable places which exposes them to risk of being affected in case there is any rise in oceans, hurricanes or any other natural disaster as a result of climate change. For instance, In the US, it is estimated that half of the total population in this country live near the coast, approximately 50 miles from the coastal regions. Furthermore, it is expected that "approximately 100 million people live within three feet of sea level." This is a clear indication that in case of any issue concerning the rise of the oceans and seas as a result of climate change; many people face risk ( Hoegh-Guldberg & Bruno, 2010). The statistics from NASA have it those almost ten millions individuals who leave the low-lying areas risk being displaced in case there is a rise in sea level as caused by the change in the climate. This is estimated to more prominent in the developed areas, and it has been witnessed on many occasions mostly in Japan and USA. According to the information collected by NASA, “Inhabitants of some small island countries that rest barely above the existing sea level are already abandoning their islands, some of the world’s first climate change refugees. In fact, in May 2016, the residents of Isle de Jean Charles were given $48 million to move – the first U.S.-based climate refugees” (Poloczanska et al., 2013). Climate change reduction or elimination is almost impossible. In many instances, methods have been proposed to have these global issues put under control. However, nearly 90% of some of these initiatives have failed flat. A good argument as per why this effort brings almost least expected result is that it takes control of human activities and sacrifices of some of the economic activities to have climate change reduced or eliminated. For instance, it needs to have or create awareness on emissions from industries and many other areas to cut or climate climatic change; this has not achieved expectations. This, therefore, means that efforts also should be put on strategies to reduce the impact of climatic change consequences on the population. First, awareness creation on the effects of climatic change can achieve a great result. The governments in different countries should join hands and pass this information to their people. People need to be told the dangers of leaving near the seas and oceans. They should be told on strategies to take in case there is an occurrence of flooding, drought and many others which stem from climatic change ( Wheeler & Von Braun, 2013). This is very important as it will reduce the number of deaths that are usually witnessed in case such disastrous events occur. Further preparedness is essential in these cases. In many occasions, the climatic change's negative impact get people unaware. This leads to an increased number of deaths and the destruction of properties due to some mild effects which could have been put under control or eliminated before causing any disastrous effects. Preparedness for such events is therefore inevitable and should be enhanced to ensure that in case of any misfortune, the number of lives lost is reduced, and the number of properties destroyed also minimized. In preparedness, funds allocation is key. There should be enough food also which should be put ready to support the victims. Furthermore, training on the reactions to these consequences is also a key for instance floods, hurricanes, and much more. Lastly, communications networks should also be enhanced and put ready to facilitate the rescue of people during this circumstance. With these kinds of preparations and strategies in place, we may be able to minimize the impact of these disasters in the community. All these approaches when combined with already established plans to reduce the occurrences of climatic change consequences, and then we would be in a much better place.
