The ability of a healthcare provider to deliver reliable healthcare services depends on the ability of the practitioner to conduct a relevant diagnosis of suspected illnesses. Healthcare providers should poses a laudable ability to evaluating both objective and subjective patient information before and during diagnosis. Proper diagnosis helps the healthcare practitioner to identify the disease from which the patient suffer and decide on the best treatment plan to counter the disease. Patient information forms the bases on which diagnosis is performed. Historical information of a patient provides healthcare providers with skeleton ideology disease affecting the patient hence easing the process of diagnosis.

Important patient history to gather from the case study

From the history provided in the case study, we can gather that the patient has experienced abdominal pain for three days. The information is a strong indicator that the infection ailing the patient is abdominally centered. Moreover, the patient has been diagnosed with hypertension and experiences nausea after meals. Besides, the patient history reviles that the patient was diagnosed for diabetes and registers an hx of GI bleed four years ago which could account for the abdominal pains experienced by the patient (Sharma, Singh & Singh, 2019). Nevertheless, the patient is currently on medication of Lisinopril 10mg, Amlodipine 5mg, Lantus 10 unit's qhs, and Metformin 1000mg. The medical history also reveals that the patient is not allergic to any stimuli. The family information suggests that the patient has no hx of colon cancer, Hyperlipidemia, GERD, Father hx DMT2, Mother hx HTN and HTN. It is also important to consider that the patient consumes alcohol.

How the results could be used to make a diagnosis?

A professional diagnosis is conducted by comparing the relationship between the results obtained. For instance, according to the results of the data, the patient's temperature is 99.8F which exceeds the normal body temperature of 97.5F. It can be concluded therefore that the patient has a fever. Besides, the results of blood pressure read 160/86. The BP recording is higher than at normal conditions and therefore it can be concluded that the patient has a prehypertension condition (Sharma, Singh & Singh, 2019). There is no possibility of a heart disorder on the patient because the heartbeat results depict a regular heart rate without and murmurs. In addition, the skin of the patient has no lesions or urticarial and therefore ruling out the possibility of skin disorder.

Is the diagnosis assess supported by subjective or objective information?

The diagnosis assess is highly guided by objective information. The information provided in the diagnosis assess is objective because it is centered on describing and qualifying the patient (Xue, Nie & Shi, 2019). Information that directly describes an individual or event is qualified as being objective in nature.

What diagnostic test would be appropriate for this case?

The physician should establish the extent of alcohol to the patient. A test to examine the effects of alcohol on the patient's abdominal wall would be appropriate. the physician should attempt to establish the relationship between the patient’s lifestyle and his/her abdominal health.

Would you accept or deny the current diagnosis?

I would refute the current diagnosis because of the inconsistent results of heartbeat and hypertension. According to the results, the patient indicates signs of hypertension yet heat results record normal rate and rhythm. Hypertension results should be consistent with an increased heartbeat and abnormal rhythms.

Possible conditions that may be considered as differential diagnosis for the patient

Gastroenteritis

One of the possible conditions that could be considered in the diagnosis is Gastroenteritis. The condition refers to the inflammation of the stomach and intestinal linings. The condition is caused by microorganism infections or consumption of foreign toxins (Xue, Nie & Shi, 2019). The condition can be a possible diagnosis because it is indicated by symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea, and vomiting.

Clostridioides difficile

Clostridioides difficile refers to a bacterium that occurs on the lining of human intestines. The bacterium can transform into a serious gastrointestinal infection if an individual is subjected to excess antibiotic therapy (Yang & Foley, 2020). From the study case, the patient is subjected to antibiotic treatment which could pose the risk of clostridioides difficile if the therapy is not well responsive. Clostridioides difficile transform to intestinal infections that are indicated by prolonged stomach ache and diarrhea.

Peritonitis

Another logical diagnosis from the results of the patient would be Peritonitis. The condition refers to the inflammation of the serosal membrane. The serosal membrane (abdominal cavity) responds to pathologic stimuli through an inflammatory response (Yang & Foley, 2020). Patients suffering from peritonitis have diarrhea, frequent stomach ache and abnormal rise in body temperature.
