President Trump’s administration wanted to apply harsher air pollution laws by revoking the California legal authority powers to implement the laws. According to Trump’s administration, the body has not been doing much to deal with air emissions, which affect climate change. The Trump government wants the California waiver withdrawn as soon as possible to pave the way for the implementation of strict laws that safeguard the environment. The energy program head Mr. Ebell Myron is of the view that implementing the law on new fuel-economy regulations is the way to go. Vehicle emissions are the leading air pollution in the country, and the administration believes that policy issues concerning vehicle emissions are violated and not up to date. Trump’s administration is opposed to it because it will disadvantage most American consumers. California is imposing and forcing everyone to use new cars which are expensive and not safe for the citizens. Russ Vought, who works at the White House, said that the radical changes would hurt everyone because air pollution will be unmanageable (Davenport, 2019). However, Trump’s administration receives criticism for trying to do away with the law that gave California the right to come up with strict rules to ensure air pollution in all the states in America gets accepted and manageable. The State has strict regulations trying to manage auto emissions, hence; improving the pollution standards by being the third producer of cars in the state. Obama supported the California rules because it required all auto manufacturers to cut the carbon dioxide emitted into the air by more than 6 billion tons by the year 2025 (Ma & Hofmann, 2019). Manufacturing cars that consume approximatepetroleum of about 87 kilometers per 3.8 liters will reduce air pollution. Nonetheless, the Trump administration wanted vehicles that use a gallon of fuel to cover 37 miles. With this, it means that carbon dioxide emissions into the air would increase. In my opinion, the California rules concerning air pollution are applicable to all states. Air pollution is affecting climate change not only in the US but all over the world. California's attorney should continue fighting for the authority’s mandate to ensure cleaner and unpolluted air. Trump’s administration should not win the case of dislodging California from advancing clean air programs.
