In many organizations, human resource department is as an administrative function, and thus, organizations tend to overlook the need for aligning human resources with their business strategies. The purpose of this paper is to propose how I would ensure that human resource approach aligns with the business strategy, describe human resource positions and responsibilities of the listed human resource department, and determine the HR Job positions that I would prefer by citing the relevant reasons. Besides, the essay will also look at how the selected industry can create HR strategies to intensify their competitive advantage and suggest three ways that can be utilized by the chosen company to improve diversity.

How to Ensure HR Strategy Aligns with Business Strategy

The business environment has been rapidly changing. Therefore, with such changes, numerous organizations are now turning to the human resource as a bizarre asset used in gaining competitive advantage. According to Kearns, (2010), human resource concentrates on achieving the best out of individuals and as a result it acts as the preliminary point of the journey towards human resource business strategy. The goal for human resource is to support the business when it comes to the management of capital, which is the most important subdivision of the wider organizational scheme. With that in mind, I would ensure that HR strategy adjusts with the policies of the organization to support the selected business strategy by identifying the difficulties faced when coordinating programs, policies, practices, processes, and philosophy of the company. Secondly, since a company is run by vision and mission statements of the initial founders, I would stress that human resource needs to stick to the company’s business strategies when making decisions. Thus, the business plan defines the success of the enterprise. Lastly, I would ensure that the human resource department is trained on the company’s business strategies and use them when making decisions. For this essay, I chose to analyze Ford Motor Company.

HR Job Positions and the Responsibilities Listed for that HR Department

For this essay, the company which is selected is Ford Motor Company. Ford is among the leading companies in the world which have unique HR division. Indeed, Ford occupies the fourth position when compared to its competitors such as general motors. The company’s job positions include hiring manager, human resource manager, human resource assistant, and recruiting and training manager. The role of the hiring manager is to oversee the recruiting plan, identify hiring needs, and carry out other activities related to recruitment and selection. The human resource manager is supposed to supervise overall processes of the department. The role recruiting and training manager is to recognize and attract individuals to the firm and also train the workers. The human resource assistant compiles and keeps the records of the employees. Evidently, the responsibilities of the HR department is to support the different human resource functions such as hiring and selection, planning, training, counseling workers, staffing, and performance monitoring.

HR Positions Which I Would Prefer

Personally, I would prefer the position for the training and recruiting manager. Since I believe in efficiency, this post would make me hire and train employees who would focus on efficiency in the production of goods and services. When recruiting the workers, I would adopt a strategic approach and this aspect would transform Ford Motor Company to be an industry of choice. The other reason why is chose this position is because I have the passion for training people. Thus, I would ensure that the employees can produce quality goods because the production of high-quality goods and services helps a firm gain a competitive advantage and surpass its competitors.

How the Selected Company can Establish HRM Strategies to Improve Competitive Advantages.

One of the ways in which the corporation can create HRM plans is to improve its competitive edge is through managing its human resources to preserve and attract qualified workers who are motivated to work towards accomplishing the goals of the organization (West, Ford, & Ibrahim, 2015). Besides, human resource management can also achieve competitive advantage by ensuring they are in a position to explain their business strategy. Lastly, the department can strive to highlight the company’s success to attract potential workers and investors.

Three Ways to Increase Diversity

Ford Motor Company, which has more that eighty plant locations and offices, has the responsibility of increasing diversity in the enterprise. Thus, to increase diversity, the company should create a long-term plan rather than a short-term one to expand the company’s workforce (Patrick, & Kumar, 2012). For instance, the company can either develop a 2-3 year plan which will let the organization learn from its faults and focus on its success. Secondly, Ford Motor Company can also train its staff on how to value diversity and how to cope with conflicts that are related to diversity. Lastly, the firm can develop an administrative culture that upholds and values diversity.

Conclusion

In summary, organizations should always ensure that their HR strategies are aligned with the business strategies. As discussed above, the companies can achieve that by ensuring their human resources use such strategies when making business decisions. Besides, they may also achieve that by training the personnel how to use the business strategies when the company’s decision. Ford Motor is an example of a company that ensures its alignment with business strategy and HR is the core of its business decisions.
