Assessing the success American health, the U.S quality measures can be benchmarked against those of wealthy and large nations. Despite the 2010 reforms done to provide universal healthcare in the U.S, the health care costs have continued to rise and approximately 26 million are still uninsured. Evidence reveal that the U.S lags behind in health compared to global health based on some aspects such as diseases burden, premature death, and all-cause mortality. America has the highest death rates amenable to health care than other comparable nations. It has a higher burden of diseases than the global health. It records high rate of hospital admissions based on preventable diseases and has higher rates of lab, medication, and medical errors than comparable nations. In addition, America is not growing rapidly like other nations, meaning the health gap is growing progressively. The identified similarities is that America compares to the global health in the steady reduction of mortality rate. In addition, America has decreased the number of life lost in health care just like the case in the global health ( Squires & Anderson, 2015).
Global health issues such as disease outbreaks poses significant threat to the health of nations. It is important for Americans to focus on global health issues because it allows them to prepare against the attack. It is important for Americans to realize that they are not an exemption to the global health issues and putting necessary measures to prevent or respond to the emergencies would help to save a lot of lives and healthcare expenditure (Brown et al., 2017). Moreover, Americans can work in coordination with nations to help support other nations that are susceptible to frequent occurrence of emergencies ( Ginter, Duncan & Swayne, 2018). Therefore paying attention is important because it empowers Americans to protect their health and setting effective respond measures helps to decrease social and economic disruption.
