In this article (Preiss, 2012) deals on the aspects of inequality that are becoming rooted within the American society and how individuals ought to take responsibility for the existence of such a situation. On that, he has argued well by using various theories. First there is the Luck Egalitarianism view that focuses on redistributive policies whereby they have failed to hold individuals accountable for their choices. The article perspective on this theory shows how the American society has failed to make the cut between a fortune and luck. Turning on to the economic state of the union from theory to practice the practical class or those in power have a responsibility to bridge the gap that results from fortune and luck so as to bring about equality.

On that there is need to have policies that would enhance equal opportunities for all citizens. It is true according to the article that policy interventions such as tax measures that will enhance education opportunities for bridging the gaps will work best from an economic perspective theory. The article borrows much from the egalitarian theorists and that calls for more philosophical interventions so as to solve the issue of inequality within the American society. In as far as the author comes up with ways his methodology differs from those who have the same topic at the end of it they are trying to drive the same message. Whereby individuals have to take responsibilities for the state in which they find themselves in. Whereby, those who get themselves in a worse situation there are there because of their choice.
