Verizon Wireless is among the most prominent technology and communications companies around the world. Inspired by the growth of technology and development, the company generates its mission from the recognition of the need for innovation to individuals across the world. Verizon mission; “ We deliver the promise of the digital world to our customers. We make their innovative lifestyles possible. We do it all through the most reliable network and the latest technology ” seeks to provide motivation and direction towards the achievement of organizational goals. A company mission statement provides the company’s activity objectives and therefore acts as a guiding light towards the nature of the company’s activities. 

Verizon mission statement recognizes the need for clear execution of activities and therefore employs a precise direction through which the activities of the company are based. Further, cognizant of the imperative nature of informational importance, the mission statement acts as information director for the customers of the company. It provides the general scope of the organizational abilities and activities. For instance, the statement stipulates its recognition of the consumer need for innovative lifestyle. The statement acts as both information and direction to the consumer on what the company delivers and how the activities of the company are geared to that statement (Gregory, 2017). The mission statement precisely identifies the presence of innovation as the ultimate tool through which to deliver its objective. Further, it provides a managerial perspective for managers within the context of future operations and expansion.

Within the content of Verizon mission statement, there exists acknowledgment of the company’s responsibility towards its customers. Through the ‘Verizon Promise’ that indicates the recognition of the operational environment, the mission statement projects the operational activities based on the constant improvement of technology to match the advancements in the market. Further, the mission recognizes the presence of a highly competitive market due to the constant innovation and in the field of technology (Morphew, and Hartley, 2006). Therefore, informing on the aggressive nature through which the company seeks to pursue innovation to deliver its promise to the consumers. 

Synthesis of Verizon mission statement exists within the confines of mission analysis of four pertinent questions. They include; what do we do? How do we do it? Whom do we do it for? And what value are we bringing? (Hull, 2013). Verizon mission statement is pertinent in answering such questions. For instance, within the first sentence in the mission statement, Verizon is clear and precise in its activities. It displays its participation within the field of technology and therefore technology development sector. Further, it proclaims the commitment towards the objective of providing technology and connected services through the promise of the statement. 

The mission statement further denotes the progression through which the company seeks to deliver the promise of a digital world. In the second sentence, the company denotes the utility of innovative strategy to fulfill the needs of the customers. The short sentence denotes the form of activities the company seeks to pursue to deliver the promise (Pearce, and David, 1987). Further, the statement signifies whom the company seeks to involve and target within its operation. Through identification of what the company seeks to achieve, ‘ We make their innovative lifestyles possible.’ it identifies the strategy to involve the customers in the innovation development. Finally, the mission provides the value of the company to the customers by identifying its strength in reliable network infrastructure as well as new innovative technology. 

Cognizant of the reviewed fortune 500, Verizon mission statement ought to be graded at four stars. The rating is subject to the comprehensive weight of the mission statement through the analysis of the four questions. Particular to the company, the mission statement provides a profound statement that identifies the company’s activities and intent. Nonetheless, the statement lacks precision especially on the delivery model of the promise made within the statement and therefore open to valid interpretations. 

To fulfill the four questions criteria, the Verizon mission statement ought to more precise. For instance, “Through the use of innovation and technology, we employ the latest technology and reliable network in collaboration with our clients, to deliver the technological needs of our customers.”
