Greek ancient culture was essential to western civilization in different ways. It was difficult for western civilization to start from scratch in the teachings and implementation of various activities in the society. Individuals responsible for western civilization adopted most of the ancient cultures and modified them to suit their interests and the interests of future modern society ( Waddy, 2017 ). Some of the Greek classical objects and projects are still available in the current society. Some of the contributions made by the Greek ancient cultures to the western civilization include; democracy, medicine, drama, religion, philosophy and academia, and arts and architecture. In this essay, I will concentrate on the contributions of Greek arts and architecture to the western civilization.
Art and architecture have been one of the major sources of revenue in various countries globally. Both ancient Greek art products and the current western art products ear revenues at almost the same rate. The contemporary artists while working on the artistic products have adopted various ancient art styles, techniques, and concepts. Some of the methods include the casting and carving of the freestanding sculptures and objects. Such technologies were adopted during the western civilization with the help of using improved tools ( Bozeman, 2017 ). Individuals and organizations are responsible for the implementation of western civilization utilized most of their time in innovations rather than designing new strategies, as the ancient ones were adopted. Art and architecture among the ancient Greek were based on naturalism and realism. Most of the art products symbolize what was happening in the society and it is the main reason that such products still attract tourists even in western culture after western civilization. In most of the museums, most of the products displayed were adopted directly from the ancient Greek with an explanation of their meaning related to the cultural activities.

Apart from the art products, architecture is another part of ancient Greek that contributed to the development of western civilization. Most of the current monumental projects related to civil engineering adopted the techniques and concepts used by the ancient Greeks during their military system and commercial connection of roads. For example, the golden ratio used by the ancient Greek was adopted in the modern architectural activities. In the construction of the current buildings, distinctive Greek columns and structural features are used without major changes in such concepts. Ancient Greeks used such techniques and ideas in the process of building tunnels, aqueducts, bridges, and any other building. Most of the buildings and other projects constructed using the ancient Greek techniques and concepts are still used in the current society.
The examples have motivated learning institutions to include the study of ancient Greek arts, architecture, and civil engineering in their curriculum such that they can understand and implement such concepts in their lives ( Abdou, 2017 ). The existence of the ancient Greek constructions proved that the techniques and concepts could still be useful in the current society with the help improved technology. Parthenon is one of the existing Greek architectural structures that still exist in the contemporary society. It was built and used as a tribute to Athena to the Greek goddess. Currently, Parthenon is one of the best tourist attraction sites in Greece, which helps the country earning revenues.
In conclusion, ancient techniques and concepts used by various communities in their cultural activities should be implemented with the help of the necessary improvements related to technology. Additionally, learning institutions should incorporate the study of such ancient concepts and techniques in the curriculum, as it will help them to understand and apply them in their lives.
