I agree with the statement Dr. Miller’s statement. Animal research is a procedure man has devised to use in the development of novel medicines and the testing of the safety of many other products before he uses. In as much as animal research is a cruel and painful venture, it leads to the reduction of the quality of life of these animals in many other ways. There are a considerable number of animals that scientists have sheltered away in sterile cages awaiting agonizing procedures in the laboratories (Fisher, 2014). What is more, these animals are kept in inhumane conditions isolated from the rest of the natural environment. Some of these animals die as a result of the experiments, and this shows just how unethical the procedures are, but all the scientists care about is the result that would be significance in the development of the drugs or safety of other products. The use of animals in experiments is evil, and this is because, just like humans, other animals have an inherent value, which is enough reason to permit animals rights (Fisher, 2014).

In as much as animas cannot respond to or make claims, they have rights than man should respect. Those in favor of animal research argue that animal research does not amount to animal abuse as long as suffering is minimized (Khoo, 2018). Moreover, they contend that, animal research is good because man’s benefits are gained, and this could not be possible if other methods were used. However, it is notable that, even though these experiments are of extreme significance to the researching of efficacy and safety of drugs and other products, the experiments can be misleading as the response to the researches by animals can be different from that of man (Khoo, 2018). Additionally, even though the proponents of animal research defend themselves with strict controls that have need enacted to safeguard animals, evidence showed that the controls have done little to prevent animal suffering (Fisher, 2014). So as to strike a balance between the two factions, there is a need to reduce the animal suffering by doing the only necessary tests and research.
